Welcome to your monthly round up of Seeing Red news, insights, competitions and information... February seemed to fly by, so I'm doing a round up of February and March all in one. To be totally honest with you guys, I sometimes struggle with what to include in these email newsletters! I love getting them from some authors and small businesses I love, so I don't want to stop sending them! Is there anything you would particularly like to see here? Please do let me know. Also, thoughts on the red??
My biggest news to share is that I've been lucky enough to be asked to do some more filming for a new television documentary again! It was very last minute, which was good as I had less time to get nervous! The shows we filmed for last year should be out in May / June time, we will make sure to let you know when they will air! This recording is for a series about murders that took place in hotels... I talked about the murder of Phillip Croydon, do you remember his episode that Mark covered on the main show? Absolutely horrendous, the poor chap. I feel so honoured to have the opportunity for things like this off the back of Seeing Red!

Wow, we have had a really varied selection of episodes over the past two months. We have talked about a child murderer / family anihilator; here was a case which sparked a lot of debate about consent, grooming, and actually how culpable someone is when they are a teenager. We heard about a crossbow killing on a remote island and discussed domestic abuse once again. We have discussed feuds between neighbours, and evil stalking the woods in Netherlands. Finally, most recently, we have talked about two cases where the victims who lost their lives were teenagers... who knows what their lives could have looked like. All incredibly harrowing stories, all heartbreaking... I think we are due a good old heist or something soon!
Patreon bonus episodes...
Alongside our ever-popular CrimeWave, which we love recording, Patreon supporters have also had a bonus full-length episode in February and March. It was my turn in February, and I wrote about Malcolm Webster - an absolute rollercoaster of a case spanning decades and continents. You may recall me talking about watching a dramatisation about this man and his crimes, called The Widower. Mark's other half has been quite poorly recently so I also took over March's bonus episode, telling Patreons about the final hours of a young father called Tommy Barton.
Bethan's Book Recommendations
I have absolutely bloody loved "It should have been you" recently, a twisty novel by Andrea Mara... It was recommended to me by a friend and I devoured it in a couple of nights.

It worked quite well for me that downloading it onto my kindle coincided with some particularly rubbish nights sleep-wise from Oliver, so there was a silver lining to being awake for a lot of the night (lol!) he was struggling with his teeth and wanted me to stand up and rock him lots- not the best when you want to lay down and sleep! but my incredible gift from my friend continues to be useful and helpful! I'm sure I've mentioned this before, one of my bestes, and friend of the show, Steph got me a stand for my kindle, and a clicker remote to "turn the page". I also definitely ate lots of the small Easter chocolates I was meant to hide this weekend for the girls, over those few nights! I needed and deserved the treat. Must remember to replace them though!

I have also been reading some more from go-to favourite authors, so there was book 7 in the Max Craigie series from Neil Lancaster (who else absolutely loves a series?! it's like revisiting old friends isn't it!) and i have read the first 3 in C J Grayson's series featuring Detective April Fisher too. I also found a few by C L Taylor that I had missed and one of Gillian McAllister's too... also wonderfully twisty thrillers!
Coming soon! Crime Con in Brmingham on the 25th of April!
it's nearly time to meet lots of you at Crime Con again. Always such fun!
If you are interested in attending please do get in touch as we have entry ticket discount codes to give our listeners & patreon supporters!
Thanks for reading!
Love, Bethan xxx
